Liber is an audiobook app made by one person. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.

Because the controller is established in Switzerland, both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for users in the European Union, the GDPR apply.
The page you are reading sets no cookies of any kind — not technical ones, not analytics, not third-party. It loads nothing from other domains: no external fonts, no analytics scripts, no embedded content. That is why you were not asked to accept anything.
Analytics described further down happen inside the mobile app, not on this website. The two are separate.
Your account. To use Liber you sign in, either with Google or with an email address and password. We receive your email address, the display name on your account, and an account identifier. We never see or store your password.
Books you import. When you import a PDF or ePub, the file is copied into Liber's own private folder on your device. The file itself is never uploaded to us. What we do store, so your library follows you from one device to another, is information about the book: title, author, cover image address, format, and how far along you are.
How you use the app. We record listening sessions — which book, when, and for how long — so the app can show you your own reading statistics. We also keep the same figures in anonymous, aggregated form, with no link to your account, to understand how the app is used overall.
Technical data. Inside the mobile app — not on this website — Firebase Analytics receives standard usage events, basic device and country information, and an advertising identifier. Liber shows no advertising and we do not sell data to anyone.
We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we do not sell or rent it.
Your account and library data are stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), in Google's European region in Zurich, Switzerland. Audiobook audio files we produce ourselves are served from Cloudflare's network.
Data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is removed — see below.
Each of these has its own privacy policy, which governs what they do with the data they receive.
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Your card details never reach us: we never see them and never store them. We only receive confirmation of whether your subscription is active.
You can view, change or cancel your subscription at any time in the Google Play Store, under Payments and subscriptions.
Under the GDPR and the Swiss FADP you may ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable form, restrict how we use it, object to its use, or withdraw a consent you gave earlier. Write to info@liberaudiobooks.com and we will answer within 30 days.
You may also complain to a supervisory authority: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Switzerland, or the authority of your own country if you live in the European Union.
To delete your account and all its data you can do it yourself inside the app, or ask us by email. Both routes, and exactly what is deleted and what is kept, are set out here: Delete your account.
Liber is not aimed at children under 16, or under the minimum age set by the law of your country where that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us their data, write to us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is substantial, we will say so in the app as well.
